What if I forgot my PIN?

What this tutorial covers

This guide helps you set a PIN, enable biometric payment, change your PIN, and reset your PIN or contact official support if you forget it.

Scope and prerequisites

  • DeBox is installed and you can open it.
  • Your PIN is the 6-digit password you set in DeBox, not your phone lock screen passcode.
  • Biometrics require fingerprint or Face ID enrolled on your phone. They are a faster alternative to your PIN and do not replace or remove it.
  • If biometrics are unavailable, you can verify with your PIN instead.
  • After enabling "Require unlock to open App," the same verification applies when opening DeBox.
Security reminder

Never send your PIN, wallet recovery phrase, private key, or related screenshots to anyone. DeBox official support will never ask for this information.

Steps

1. Set a PIN

When you create a wallet for the first time, DeBox asks you to set a 6-digit PIN.

  1. Go to the "Create wallet" page.
  2. Enter a 6-digit number under "Set password."
  3. Enter the same 6-digit number again under "Please enter password again."
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish creating your wallet.

2. Open "Payment & Security"

  1. Open DeBox.
  2. Tap Me in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Tap the settings icon in the top-right corner.
  4. Tap Payment & Security.

3. Enable biometric payment

Before enabling it, enroll fingerprint or Face ID in your phone's system settings.

  1. Open the Payment & Security page.
  2. Turn on the Biometric payment switch.
  3. Verify with fingerprint or Face ID as prompted by your phone.
  4. Confirm the Biometric payment switch is on.

After enabling it, DeBox will prefer fingerprint or Face ID when you pay, transfer, or view sensitive wallet information. Biometric payment only confirms it is you; it does not pay or transfer automatically.

4. Change your PIN

The current page entry is labeled Reset PIN. After verification succeeds, you can set a new PIN.

  1. Open the Payment & Security page.
  2. Tap Reset PIN.
  3. Verify with biometrics or your current PIN.
  4. Enter a new 6-digit PIN.
  5. Enter the new 6-digit PIN again.
  6. Wait for the success confirmation.

Changing your PIN does not change your wallet address or affect assets in your wallet.

5. If you forgot your PIN

If biometric payment is enabled and your phone's fingerprint or Face ID still works, you can set a new PIN using biometrics.

  1. Open the Payment & Security page.
  2. Tap Reset PIN.
  3. Verify with fingerprint or Face ID.
  4. Enter a new 6-digit PIN.
  5. Enter the new 6-digit PIN again.

If biometrics are unavailable, contact official support for guidance. Do not give your recovery phrase or private key to strangers.

Tips

  • Your PIN is the 6-digit password you set when creating your account, not your phone lock screen passcode.
  • Biometric payment only speeds up identity verification; it does not pay or transfer automatically.
  • After changing phones or removing enrolled fingerprint or Face ID, biometric payment may need to be set up again.
  • If you do not see Biometric payment, check whether your phone supports biometrics and has fingerprint or Face ID enrolled.

FAQ

What is the difference between a PIN and biometrics?

Your PIN is the 6-digit password you set in DeBox. Biometrics use fingerprint or Face ID already enrolled on your phone, mainly to verify you faster.

Do I still need to remember my PIN after enabling biometric payment?

Yes. If biometrics fail, you can use your PIN. Changing security settings may also require your PIN.

Does biometric payment complete payments automatically?

No. Biometric payment only confirms it is you. You still need to initiate payments or transfers yourself.

Why can't I see "Biometric payment"?

Your phone may not support biometrics, or fingerprint or Face ID may not be enrolled in phone settings. Enroll them first, then reopen DeBox.

What if biometric verification fails?

Try again, or tap Use PIN and enter your 6-digit PIN.

What if I forgot my PIN?

If biometric payment still works, verify with fingerprint or Face ID first, then set a new PIN. If biometrics are also unavailable, contact DeBox official support for guidance.

Why does the page say "Reset PIN" but ask for verification first?

This confirms it is you. Only after verification succeeds can you set a new PIN.

Does "Use PIN" mean my phone lock screen passcode?

No. You need the 6-digit PIN you set in DeBox.

What happens after enabling "Require unlock to open App"?

When you open DeBox, the app asks for biometric verification or your PIN. You can continue only after verification succeeds.

Will changing my PIN affect wallet assets?

No. Changing your PIN only changes the verification password in DeBox. It does not change your wallet address or assets.
