How to use Group Manager?

What this guide covers

Helps group owners/admins enable the Group Management Bot (Bot Butler) and configure welcome messages, content moderation, self-service Q&A, message reminders, and inactive-member cleanup.

Requirements and before you start

  • You must be the group owner or admin of that group.
  • The Group Manager bot must join the group first; otherwise the page prompts whether you agree to add Group Manager.
  • Some advanced capabilities (self-service Q&A, message reminders, one-tap inactive cleanup, etc.) may require: this group to be a Blue Badge group, or the group owner to have Green/Gold membership (follow popup prompts).
  • This guide does not cover Group Chain or Bot Mother custom bots—those are separate features.
Permission note

Content moderation is enforced by Group Manager and usually applies only to regular members; group owners/admins are generally not subject to moderation limits (follow on-page notes).

Steps

1. Open Group Manager

  1. In the target group, open group settings (entry name follows the App).
  2. Open Group Management Bot / Bot Butler.
  3. If prompted that the bot has not joined, confirm to add it.
  4. If prompted that only the group owner and admins can use it, sign in with an admin account.

The home page usually covers: welcome messages, content moderation, self-service Q&A, member activity governance, and scheduled message reminders.

2. Welcome messages

  1. Go to Join Management.
  2. Turn on the Welcome Message switch.
  3. Edit the welcome text; optionally enable @ new members.
  4. Save. Welcome text cannot be empty.

If older docs mention "join verification questions," follow what the current Join Management page actually allows; the RN config page focuses on welcome text and @ new members.

3. Content moderation

  1. Go to Content Moderation.
  2. Configure as needed:
    • Banned words / block specified keywords (avoid common words that cause false positives; usually add one at a time)
    • Restrict low-level members from sending images/stickers/videos/links, etc. (small groups may show an exemption below a member count, e.g. under 30)
    • Link whitelist
    • Other advanced items (such as Energy threshold, block claiming regular red packets, etc.—follow the page)
  3. Choose violation handling: recall only / recall and warn.
  4. Save settings.

4. Self-service Q&A

After meeting capability requirements:

  1. Open the self-service Q&A list.
  2. Create or edit: fill in question, reply type (answer/link), keywords, etc.
  3. If the reply is a link, it usually must start with https://; after saving it may be auto-added to this group's link whitelist.
  4. Save.

5. Message reminders

After meeting capability requirements:

  1. Open the message reminder list and create/edit.
  2. Choose regular messages, token price alerts, etc. (follow the page).
  3. Note the product prompt: message reminders may be sent via @all.
  4. Set repeat rules (once only / daily / weekly, etc.) and save.

6. Remove inactive members

After meeting capability requirements:

  1. Go to Member Activity.
  2. Choose a time window (such as inactive for one week / one month / one year).
  3. Select members to remove (the Group Manager bot account usually cannot be removed).
  4. Confirm removal. If prompted that the current period is not complete, try again after the date shown.

FAQ

What if a capability is restricted?

Follow popup requirements to enable Blue Badge, or have the group owner activate Green/Gold membership before using the capability. See DeBox Premium membership guide.

Where is Group Chain?

Group Chain is a separate feature (Group Manager home may have another entry); it is out of scope for this guide.

Can regular members change Group Manager settings?

No. The config page is available only to group owners/admins.

What if moderation causes false positives?

Check keywords and whitelist settings; adjust level thresholds or handling as needed; admins are usually unrestricted and can handle emergencies.
